Roger W. Whalen, 80, of Algonquin, passed away peacefully February 9, 2018 at his home. Beloved husband of Norma Whalen, nee Nelson, for 60 years. Loving father of Susan Whalen, Julie (Ken) Kirsten, and Wendy (Brian) Whitaker. Cherished grandfather of Kathleen (William) Motisi, Laura, Melissa, and Hannah Whitaker, Erin and Dylan Kirsten, and great grandfather of Lorraine Motisi. Fond uncle of many. Roger was preceded in death by his parents James and Alice Whalen and his brother James (Joan) Whalen.
Roger enjoyed cars, music, history, fishing, reading, and traveling. Prior to retirement, Roger worked for Weiler Engineering. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation Thursday, 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. (at Northwest Highway) Mt. Prospect. Visitation Friday, 9:30 A.M. until Funeral Service at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
